Here's the rest I put in the show. I'll redo the images when I get them back. I have to round up the other paintings that I've done since and put them here. I've got a textile art show to get ready for so it's been taking up a lot of my time. Work first, they play!

Hi,
I need to take better digitals of these. They are in the Capitol Plein Air Festival show at S12 gallery in Sacamento. 39 of the best plein air artists in Northern California and then me! It was great painting with them. I still have a long way to go but what a wonderful journey!

Just finished this abstract for "Painting for Miracles", not the best image of it, but all I had was my little digital camera. It's 24x32. This event was hosted by ZAP Creative Group, a Graphics firm in Sacramento. They are really wonderful people and have a great place. This is a worthy cause, 80 artists getting together over the weekend , each creating a painting to be auctioned off for the Children's Miracle Network. All proceeds will be going to the UC Davis Children's Hospital. My child, whom I based the painting on, Katie D'Arcy, is a survivor of a horrible plane crash.

She lost her father, had every bone in her body broken, and came through with an attitude that when you are at your lowest, you dust yourself off, get up and go on with your life. She is now back at high school and playing tennis. A really great story, a really brave person. I call it "As I Rise Up" in her honor.

No picture this time. I have a small plein air I did when we went to Santa Cruz a few weeks ago. I'll post it soon. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be doing Phantom Galleries Second Saturday, September 11 and 12 from 5 to 8 at Casa Bella Galleria in Uptown Sacramento, Del Paso Blvd and Arden Way. Snacks and art, not to mention gorgeous furniture! What could be better! Please stop by if you get a chance!

The Yellow Square

Another little 6"x6" painting, a little pushing the picture plane. How much space can you create in a small box? Next one I think can go much further.

Hi,

Haven't posted in awhile. I'm still painting, just haven't finished a lot. This was a quick one done by the Fair Oaks Bridge in Old Fair Oaks, CA. Sacramento Plein Air Painters had a gathering there a few weeks ago. It was the first time I tried out my new pochade box. Not bad, but I think I need a better tripod. Either that, or "gently" push the paint around the painting! Someone there had an Open Box M and I'm definitely putting that on my Christmas list!

"Singles Only!"

A small 6x6 painting. I was sorting socks the other night and these three popped out, just these three, no matches! Did the back to the dryer thing, asked my family, and yeah, they are now singles. So, before they went to the "paint rag pile" since they were some of my favorites, I decided they needed to be painted. What do you do with your "singles"?

On Display at Capitol Garage in Sacramento through July 31, 2009

Someone brought plums into work. The red ones were so gorgeous that I decided to paint one. I probably didn't do it justice, but I had to try. I made it oversize so I could play with the reds! What a blast! I did this one with Golden Open Acrylics. They don't dry as fast as the regular Goldens and allow for more play time, so besides layering you can also blend the colors. Go Figure! Well, it's almost been a month since I last posted. Work has been really busy and it's HOT here! This new post is a 16x20 painting done of haystacks I went by on the way to the Cosumnes River Preserve. The heat radiates off the field making it very representational of the area we live in! Today is suppose to be down below 100, it doesn't feel much cooler yet! The heat has driven me back to the rivers. (Sacramento and American) I'm working on a small painting of a portion of Riverbank Marina painted from Discovery Park. Things I learned about my plein air setup -(1) buy a level.. when I got home I discovered I needed to correct my painting! The legs of my easel did not sink into the sand equally...my buildings were tilted! (2) Sand does indeed stick to wet oil paint...do not rely on easel as a wet canvas carrier! This new painting will have interesting texture!

We went to Miller Park in Sacramento a few weeks ago and I really loved this tree. It's definitely a cottonwood tree. The stuff was heavy in the air. It was a great morning painting, more water color artists were present, I like to watch the way they lay in their colors.

This is another small plein air painting done at the Watt Avenue Bridge at the American River in Sacramento. There's a small inlet with still water. It's a great place to let the kids play in the water and be away from the main current of the river. (11x14)

This is a small one done by the American River by the Watt Avenue Bridge in Sacramento. I don't live too far from there and it's relaxing to go down and paint after dinner during the week if I can get away. (11x14)

I just finished this one for my son. It's 6 feet by 2 feet. Acrylic. He's making a room divider with three panels, so I get to do two more 6'x2' paintings!

This one was done at Cosumnes River Preserve. It's a really lovely spot. (20x20)
I did this one for my sister. It's a 200+ year old bridge in Richfield Park in central Wisconsin, close to Marshfield. We went there a lot as children. (16x20)

A really different sunflower. I think its 12x24.
Did I mention that I love shoes. This is a small 6x6 I did. I have some others, but I'm not sure where right now. Did this a while ago. Doing these little ones are fun. As soon as I can pry myself away from the great outdoors, I think I'll do a few more!

This is an older one and not done "Plein Air". My take on Santa Cruz. One of my favorite spots.
The Old City of Fair Oaks again. I loved this tree. The chickens run wild in the town square. Right across the square they have a little coffee house that has the BEST muffins! This was at done at David Peterson's paintout in March 2009.

This one was done at Ansil Hoffman Park in Carmichael. It was the April paint out hosted by David Peterson, a wonderful watercolor artist from Sacramento. I love his paintings!
I was suppose to do a Plein Air competition in the City of Old Fair Oaks or in a 2 mile radius of there. We were suppose to complete a painting and take it back to the gallery. It poured all day. I was fortunate as I had borrowed my husband's Easy Up and set it up at Sacramento Bar along the American River. I shared my dry space with a nice watercolor artist doing the same paintout. We didn't end up entering our paintings, but had a good time all the same.
