Just finished this abstract for "Painting for Miracles", not the best image of it, but all I had was my little digital camera. It's 24x32. This event was hosted by ZAP Creative Group, a Graphics firm in Sacramento. They are really wonderful people and have a great place. This is a worthy cause, 80 artists getting together over the weekend , each creating a painting to be auctioned off for the Children's Miracle Network. All proceeds will be going to the UC Davis Children's Hospital. My child, whom I based the painting on, Katie D'Arcy, is a survivor of a horrible plane crash.

She lost her father, had every bone in her body broken, and came through with an attitude that when you are at your lowest, you dust yourself off, get up and go on with your life. She is now back at high school and playing tennis. A really great story, a really brave person. I call it "As I Rise Up" in her honor.

  1. This is so cool! Katie is my older sister. I just recently showed her this piece of yours and she was very honored to be your muse. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for supporting the Children's Miracle Network.

Just an update...Katie is looking forward to prom in the spring and attending college in the fall to study pre-med.

  3. Dear Mary,

I am Katie's aunt and godmother. Your artwork is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for choosing Katie's story and supporting Children's Miracle Network. Needless to say, our family is so proud of Katie and her positive attitude. She is truly a miracle and is very precious to us. While we still mourn the loss of her father, we know that he would be so proud of Katie, too. I think that Katie said it best, "Accidents happen, but so do miracles." Thank you for recognizing Katie.

    Sincerely,
    Ann Marie Robinson
