Well, it's almost been a month since I last posted. Work has been really busy and it's HOT here! This new post is a 16x20 painting done of haystacks I went by on the way to the Cosumnes River Preserve. The heat radiates off the field making it very representational of the area we live in! Today is suppose to be down below 100, it doesn't feel much cooler yet! The heat has driven me back to the rivers. (Sacramento and American) I'm working on a small painting of a portion of Riverbank Marina painted from Discovery Park. Things I learned about my plein air setup -(1) buy a level.. when I got home I discovered I needed to correct my painting! The legs of my easel did not sink into the sand equally...my buildings were tilted! (2) Sand does indeed stick to wet oil paint...do not rely on easel as a wet canvas carrier! This new painting will have interesting texture!
